Principal’s Points:
Today is the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. This is a time when we can remember the harmony we should focus on. We can appreciate the efforts of Martin Luther King Jr. to make good changes in our world but most of all we can be thankful to Jesus Christ who came to this world and lived and died to make us all one.
CHAPEL
On Friday, January 17, worship will be lead by Miss. Abby King and students from Mount Pisgah Academy. Also, a surprise visitor will be joining them. The visitors have a special treat to give each student.
Congratulations to Gary Rouse, our Carolina Conference Superintendent of Education who became a grandfather this week due to the birth of his grandson, Kellam James Swilling.
GYMNASTICS
Gymnastics and Adventurers doesn’t meet today. Note that students start Gymnastics class at 3:15 when there is class so Mrs. Robyn Blake requested they wait in Colburn Hall with the dismissal group until class starts.
BASKETBALL
We anticipate another good season of league basketball at EAS. The first practice is next Monday. If your child wants to participate then a permission slip and monies must be sent in to the office by January 20th. Note that students start Basketball Practice at 3:15 so they must wait in Colburn Hall with the dismissal group until practice starts at 3:15 PM

JANUARY SPIRIT DAY
We will celebrate 100 days of school on Spirit Day Friday, January 31. In preparation for our 100th day celebration, we ask all students to join the fun by wearing an item of clothing that has 100 objects attached. This notice is being given early so that hopefully you have time to begin preparing for this fun event.
FUND RAISER FOR THE 7TH AND 8TH GRADERS:
It’s just this simple: If someone comes in and purchases mulch, and mentions our schools name when ordering, CJ Mulch and More LLC Team will donate 50 cents per yard ordered back to our school. There is no limit, there is no strings attached. They have made this a never ending agreement. A brochure will be sent home with more information.

TUTORING
Math tutoring will be available after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 4 PM. It is on a first come first serve basis. Please sign up at the office. The instructor is Bob Kopstein and there is no charge. He would welcome others who would like to help tutor to join him in helping students with their math.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
We never know when the snow or ice will begin. Here are the guidelines for EAS regarding school closures due to inclement weather:
Watch WSPA channel 7 for potential school closings. EAS does not automatically follow Spartanburg County. There are times the county closes for reasons that do not apply to us. However, the safety of our students and families are always of utmost concern. If it is unsafe to be on the roads where you live, please remain at home where it is safe.
** If you need the services of the daycare, please also watch WSPA channel 7 for their daycare closings. The daycare may not necessarily coincide with our hours during inclement weather.
