PRINCIPAL’S POINTS
Praise God for our new playground! We dedicated our new playground by a ribbon cutting and dedication prayer by our school board chairman, Mr. Ernie Boughman, Tuesday morning. We are now enjoying playing on it! Thanks for loving the students at EAS by helping at work bees, contributing your monies and time to make this a reality.

Do you have sports equipment just collecting dust? What sports equipment have you collected that you’re willing to donate to the school for our PE program? Drop these items in a red crate located under our “What’s Happening” bulletin board in the lobby labeled “PE donations”. For example, we would appreciate Frisbees, badminton sets, balls, jump ropes, and exercise mats for PE class.

HOT LUNCH
Please remember there will be pizza on Friday, August 16.

UPCOMING EVENTS
August 27 – Chipotle fundraiser. Come out and eat between the hours of 4:00-8:00 PM. Don’t forget to let them know you are there to support Eddlemon! A percentage will be donated to our school.

August 22 – 6:30 PM. Open House. We hope to see you there!

VIOLIN LESSONS
Violin lessons will be available after school.
Information was sent home last week. If you lost track of the details, please stop by the office and pick up another paper regarding violin lessons.

PLAYGROUND UPDATE
Over the past several weeks Mosteller Design and Construction of Columbia, South Carolina, has been installing the new swing set and play tower for the school. A school playground committee, made up of school board chairman Ernie Boughman III and board members John Watson and Mike Hope, had previously selected the equipment with input from our Eddlemon Adventist School teachers.
Once the equipment was selected, fund raising began to raise the needed $60,000. Both the church and the school contributed over $20,000 toward the project with the balance coming from individual donors. The desire was to have an attractive, safe and lasting play environment for our students.
This past Sunday, nearly a dozen volunteers came out and helped spread mulch, trim bushes and freshen up the landscaping to help make the rest of the playground more appealing. There are several projects that still need to be completed to make everything look complete. One is to repair and paint the playground storage shed, painting the porch posts on a playhouse, painting a playground jeep, replacing a fence post, edging the playground sidewalk, replacing the sun canopy, and weeding the seats of the amphitheater.

If you would like to contribute financially or help with any of these projects please contact the school office at 864-576-2234 or Melissa Evans at 864-680-0412.

On behalf of all students and staff at EAS, we would like to say “Thank you” to all who made it possible for us to have a new playground. Many people used their time, energy, financial resources, and talents to make this possible. Although it is now open for use, please join us for an official dedication which will take place soon.
